A Gift: Free Copy of “Think and Grow Rich”

In this economy, everyone can appreciate something free. To show our appreciation to all visiors, we’ll continue to post free eBooks. At least one each week. Please visit often and look for the next offering.

Today, we offer a free copy of one of the classics of financial books, “Think and Grow Rich“. It is a true staple of investors or anyone who takes their success serious. If you have not heard of it, it’s not one of those books. By “those books”, we mean the tomes that give you just a taste of the information and then try and convince you to buy something. While much of the content here may be common sense, quite a bit is eye-opening.

We know you will find it useful. Enjoy!

To download, just “right-click” on the book and select “Save Target As…”. Or, click the “Continue” button below.

How Exchanges Work Pt 1 (NASDAQ)

NASDAQ Market MakersMany years ago, I received a call from a client who had shares of his employer’s stock and wanted to sell. Before I could even give him the current quote, he said he wanted no less than $42.30 per share. At the time of his call, the stock was just below $40 per share. He had seen $42.30 in his newspaper over the weekend and could not understand why we would not give him $42.30 per share that Monday afternoon! That’s what the newspaper said, right? That was “the” price! In fact, he thought we were trying to scam him out of some of his money. Although the commission on his trade was barely enough to buy two cups of coffee, an hour long education session began. It was because I cared and wanted to be honest with people that I knew I would never make a lot of money as a broker. It’s almost impossible to be completely honest and be successful in that business.

Explaining how the market worked excited this fellow and made me quite happy to be the faceless guy on the phone that helped one day. Ever since, explaining how markets work has been a joy. Here, we’ll take a look at NASDAQ.

How Exchanges Work Pt. 2 (NYSE)

New York Stock Exchange - Logo - How Exchanges WorkIn the U.S., the NYSE Euronext exchanges operate in one of two ways.  The first is a combination of high-tech automation and direct participation by market professionals.  This unique market model combines the best aspects of electronic trading and traditional, open-outcry, auction market trading and creates an orderly market throughout the trading day.  This is how the NYSE and NYSE Amex operate.  Our other market model is an all-electronic marketplace, such as the one used by NYSE Arca.
